So.
I woke up today at like 10:30 because my aunt and uncle had a parsonage inspection this morning (we live at the parsonage of the church my uncle preaches at, literally right next door) so I wanted to be up and presentable. Somewhat. Well, she didn’t actually come upstairs, but either way, I decided to read a little thinking that it would look better if I were reading instead of sitting on my bed with the computer.
And when I turned it on finally at 12:30 I realized that the Barça match was on at noon my time. Oops. I rectified that in the second half though, and in between talking with a friend on Facebook and sneaking peeks at the video stream, I worked on this.
I actually started it last night, just focusing on the outline and some of the shading, and then today I worked on the deeper shading and the face, which is always time-consuming and difficult and painstaking (as you could probably imagine), but it’s also my favorite because I love doing detail work like this. Anyway, I’m very very pleased with the final product.
In between the two drawings that I’ve done in the past two days, this one is definitely my favorite. I was getting a little worried last night because he was looking kind of…er…feminine, but with the shading and more detail work he started to look a little more like himself. So I am happy and pleased.
I’ll post a detail shot in a sec. Again, it really does look better in person (I’m not making excuses I promise xD), but until I can get access to a scanner, this is what I have.
I really don’t think I want to be drawing VV for a while though. o____O I like drawing Xavi and Villa better I think. I spent like an hour on VV’s “hair” alone, and I usually spend half an hour tops on the guys who actually have it. So yeah.
“My dad and my brother, what I have today, the privilege of the life I’m having today, my family as well as myself, I owe to these two people. Without those two people I would have left football. I want to tell this story because I think it’s worth it to insist that, whatever happens, whatever you’re feeling, you can reach that goal, because later on you could regret forever the fact that you’ve given it up, right? Therefore, it could happen to me, if it had been up to me I definitely would have given it up, and today if someone were to show me a crystal ball and showed me the future I could have had, I’d be crying every night.”
¿No?
“My father always wears a ring, a ring from my grandfather. Right? And he, before every match, what he tends to do is kiss the ring and show it to the sky. Always. And if you watch Víctor, every time he comes out, he does it too. My grandfather had a true fascination for Víctor. A true fascination. He didn’t make it to see him debut, and what’s interesting is that my grandfather supported Madrid. He would say ‘If I ever got see you play at the Bernabéu, I’d die.’ And I would sometimes ask ‘And on that day, Grandpa, who will you want to win?’ He’d say ‘That day,’ saying, ‘I’d want my grandson to win.’”
“From the time I was 8 till I was 18, playing goalie every weekend has been, to put it one way, a special suffering. A constant suffering every weekend, from something I don’t like to do, which is playing goalkeeper, and which I don’t understand. ’Why am I doing it, if I don’t like it?’”
WHAT IS BREATHING.
I DIED.
No really.
Days 15-16, 30-Day Football Challenge

Day 15 - Name your dream XI of all time.

Zubizarreta - Alves - Puyol - Piqué - Maxwell - Guardiola - Xavi - Iniesta - Messi - Villa - Llorente (I know, it’s actually really really lame)

Day 16 - Which other current players, other than whoever you answered for Day Two, are you a fan of?

Fernando Llorente - Athletic Bilbao

I fell in love with him somewhere in the 2007-08 season when I was watching an Athletic match and noticed a really tall, blonde player who reminded me of both Athletic legend Julen Guerrero and my brother (who is tall and blonde as well). This man is so incredibly talented, probably even too talented for the club he plays for. But he’s still loyal to Athletic, and even though he’s now reached international fame because of his performance in the latest World Cup, he is more than deserving of the attention.

Víctor Valdés - FC Barcelona

This is a player who gets so much flack, so much criticism for what he does. Truth is, he’s by far one of the best goalkeepers on the planet, having been one of the youngest goalkeepers in Spanish league history to win the Zamora, and he’s won it three times. For someone who grew up hating being goalkeeper, who hated what he was doing and every day he spent on the pitch who then grew to love it, Valdés deserves so much more credit than he receives.

David Villa - FC Barelona

I really truly fell in love with him in the Spain-Italy friendly in March 2008, when he scored the only goal in the match, and it was a beauty. I’d known of him before that, and had seen a few other Valencia and Spain matches so it wasn’t like I was completely oblivious to him beforehand. But that moment, that goal… I just fell in love with him as a player. Because even though I did find him ridiculously good-looking (and still do), it was more his talent, the fact that he’s completely ambidextrous in both legs, and despite being much more friendly with being offsides than we would like, but even so, it shows how hungry he is for the goal. He is an incredible player and I’m glad he represents Spain, and now my favorite club.

Gorka Iraizoz - Athletic Club

I think this one started as a simply physical thing (Yes, I think he’s hot, okay? xD), but honestly, this man is talented. Yeah, so he plays for Athletic, but he’s one of the reasons why it’s really hard to score lots of goals against Athletic (unless you’re Real Madrid or Barcelona). I just really think he’s more talented than he’s given credit for, and I just love him.

Unfff.

Visca el Barça i visca Catalunya!
