I don’t remember seeing him in this kit ever.
He looks like a bumblebee.

Colmar, France

I love this little town.  It’s the hometown/birthplace of Auguste Bartholdi who built/designed the Statue of Liberty and I’ve been here on a few different occasions.  Very cute, very quaint, very Alsatian.

OH MY WORD PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS FROM HERBSTMESSE OR SOMETHING.  I MISS THAT SO MUCH.  I miss wandering around Basel for 5 hours and I miss Basel in general.  One of my favorite cities ever, for real.

“We (the crew) shot again and again and again. I even stepped in and took Bacall in my arms to show him what I wanted. ‘I know exactly what you want,’ Bogie said, and then he did it perfectly. He loved the girl and he was enjoying this. When I knew I had what I wanted I told them, ‘Thanks very much.’ And he said, ‘No no no!, I think you need another shot - how about this?’ And then, ‘How about this?’ Then, ‘You gotta have a kiss shot.’ And so he kissed her.”

True story time with Ella.
When I was in NYC with my BFF Resa over the summer (the second time, after I got back from Spain), we staked out a White Collar shoot because they tend to film on location, we were in the area, and, it was my last day in town and could use the fun.  And because we think Matt Bomer (Neal Caffrey) is gorgeous.
This is where we stalked staked out the shoot.  Manhattan Motorcars, official dealership for Lams, Ferraris, and other luxury cars, on 11th Ave in Chelsea.  That brick building across the street was our homebase for a good hour and a half, and yes, we were actually successful.  For the most part.
There’s a cute little fashion boutique right across the street, and while Resa was talking with the girl at the desk trying to not make it look like we were stalking a TV shoot, I caught a glimpse of Matt Bomer himself, in all of his tall, handsome, dark-haired glory, right in front of the window, about two meters from where I stood.  I did the only thing I knew how to do at that point, which was to nudge Resa, point her in the direction of the window, and the both of us nearly squealed collectively.
Unfortunately neither of us got any pictures, but, success was had, in the fact that we were there to stalk Matt, and did end up seeing him.  From the back, but it’s better than nothing.  He is tall, that hair is beautiful in real life (can I run my fingers through it, pretty please?), and, well, he’s Matt Bomer.  ’Nuff said.

Basques, Past & Present
I love this picture.  It definitely represents Euskadi: the typical caserío, representing the agricultural background of the Basques, working the fields, tending the sheep, and on the coast, fishing; and the modern Euskadi, represented by Bilbao’s airport in Loiu (Lujua in Spanish, but who uses the Spanish place names in Euskadi?) designed by Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava and built in 2000 (I actually remember the old airport at Sondika, which you can see at the other end of the runway when you fly into Loiu); Bilbao is Euskadi’s financial and business capital.
Tradition meets modernity, in a perfect juxtaposition.

Rohan man: “That horse is half mad, my lord. There’s nothing you can do. Leave him.”

[Aragorn speaks to the horse in Rohirric and Elvish. He takes one of the ropes and it stops rearing. One of the men leaves. Aragorn unties it from the bridle. He continues speaking softly and the horse becomes gentle. The other man leaves.]
Aragorn: “Fæste, stille nú, fæste, stille nú. Lac is drefed, gefrægon.” (Fast, quiet now, fast, quiet now. A battle is stirred up, they heard.)
Aragorn: “Hwæt nemnað ðe?” (What is your name?)
Èowyn: “His name is Brego. He was my cousin’s horse.”
Aragorn: “Brego? Ðin nama is cynglic.” (Brego? Your name is kingly.)
Aragorn: “Man le trasta, Brego?” (What troubles you, Brego?)
Aragorn: “Man cenich?” (What did you see?)
Èowyn: “I’ve heard of the magic of Elves, but I did not look for it in a Ranger from the North. You speak as one of their own.”
Aragorn: “I was raised in Rivendell, for a time.”
Aragorn: “Turn this fellow free. He has seen enough of war.”

Old English (the language Tolkien used for the people of Rohan is Old English and was not an original creation) and Sindarin are two languages that make me weak at the knees.

Abidal.03

So there’s a Haitian guy at the refugee house my brother works/lives at who looks just. like. him.  It’s uncanny, really.  Only this guy (the Haitian, not Abidal xD) is a total playboy.  xDDDD
Went to the mall, even though the only stores we went to were Best Buy and Borders.  And my parents and I can spend hours there.  ^^
Anyway, I like to go to the travel section and look at travel guides for Spain and Barcelona (and occasionally peruse the Spanish phrasebooks…I like to critique them xD).  I was looking through the Fodor’s Guide to Barcelona and randomly opened it, and SAW THIS.
IN A TRAVEL GUIDE.
LIKE.
I almost dropped the book to the ground I was in so much shock in seeing him in there.  LIKE.  OKAY.
And then I almost squealed in the half-empty bookstore all “HEY WHAT’S UP THERE, XAVS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN A TRAVEL GUIDE” and kind of announcing it to the entire world.
But I didn’t.
I just snuck in a picture instead.  Ohoho.
Day 11 - Your Top Three Favorite Bands

Oh gosh.  I’m going to be here forever.  xD  Only I’m going to expand “bands” to “artists”, because my music tastes go far beyond “bands”.  Ahem.

Estopa
Where to begin with Estopa.  I first heard of them back in 2000, shortly after the release of their first album.  A few of the songs were played on the radio, and my best friend made me a tape of it because her brother bought the album.  I spent a couple months listening to them, and then just kind of stopped, and rediscovered them back in 2008 when I went back to Spain.  It was mostly thanks to the Škoda car commercials they did which promoted the new album and featured “Cuando Amanece”.  I liked the song in the commercials and I knew I had the discography downloaded on my computer, so I started listening to them.  Got hooked.  Bought that latest CD, Allenrok, and they swiftly became my favorite band ever.  They’re from Barcelona (of course), and their music is basically a mixture of rumba catalana, flamenco and rock, with some other influences thrown in, and they’re really just their own blend of uniqueness and awesome.  I love every single album of theirs and while there are a few songs I’d give a “pass” to, I still can’t imagine any of their albums without those songs.  Quality.  Absolute quality.

Jarabe de Palo
Was first introduced to them in 1998 through their single “Depende”, which was probably the most quoted and overused song of the year, but I loved it.  I still have awesome memories that come back to me whenever I hear that song.  They’re also from Barcelona (Want good music?  Find artists from Barcelona, you’re pretty much guaranteed to find something good.  90% of the artists I listen to are from Barcelona, true story.), and their music is probably more Alternative, but it’s a happy alternative.  Their lyrics tend to be very positive and the music itself is pretty soothing, and they’re overall just such a wonderful “feel good” band without feeling like you’re listening to cheese, because you’re not.  I have to admit, I haven’t listened to them in a while, but they’re still on my top-3 list because they’re like Estopa in the sense that even though it’s been a while since I’ve listened to them, in general, I am always in the mood to listen to their music.

Gareth Emery
Okay, so to be perfectly honest the main reason he’s on this list is because I’m obsessed with his newest album.  Obsessed.  But odds are, I’ll look back on this in the next few months and won’t complain about him being on here, because I have a hard time choosing my top-3 artists/bands, since once I get past Estopa, it’s nearly impossible to choose.  And I love Gareth.  So.  I first discovered Gareth Emery through the A State of Trance 2007 compilation.  He did a remix for a track called “Formentera What” by Mike Vorne which I absolutely loved.  When I got my Zune and was looking for trance podcasts to download that summer (2008), I saw the “Gareth Emery Podcast Party”, recognized the name, and decided to subscribe.  I’ve been addicted ever since.  This guy is an incredibly talented DJ, and while most of the time he just does mixes, when he does put out his own tracks they are works of art.  So when I heard the preview for this album, his first artist album, I knew I had to get a hold on it.  It is seriously one of the best albums I’ve ever listened to, it is absolutely amazing, and I really want to buy the album so that I can actually *own* it, though I would like to support the artist.

I’m outside in the cold, thought stars would bring the light. I should’ve learned by now they just come out at night. The things they always say, that tunnels lead to light. It’s something I don’t see ‘cos it’s too dark tonight.
