This is a collection of songs I put together that remind me of the Catalan city of Terrassa, which I visited twice this summer (in a week).  They also work really well (at least for me) as a rainy day mix because, well, it was cloudy and humid the two days I was there, so that had an influence on the music I associate with the city.  It’s mostly a collection of Spanish indie, save for a few English artists (R.E.M. making the most distinctive appearance in the English songs).

Feel free to use the image as an album cover, or just create your own playlist.

Enjoy!

Also, if you’re interested, I uploaded a Summer 2010 mix here.

The podcast I was a part of last night is now available to listen to and download!  I’m told that in a couple of hours you can download it from iTunes if that’s your thing, but you can listen to it and download it in mp3 form here.  :)

Please let me know if you download this, and if you have any questions/comments (something doesn’t work right, you need me to upload it again, etc.).  Not all songs are actually *from* this summer, but they are songs I fell in love with this summer and which give me a lot of fun mental images, either of the beach or of Barcelona, or my Spain trip in general, or even Manhattan.  They are all electronic/dance/house/techno songs, so if that kind of music really isn’t your cup of tea, you don’t have to download.  Also, feel free to use the graphic as your album cover, or just create your own playlist.  Whatever you want.

Enjoy!

Interviews for download

1. Els Millors Anys de la Nostra Vida - Especial Xavi

Download

A one-hour special from Catalunya Ràdio’s Els Millors Anys de la Nostra Vida, Xavi is the guest of honor on the program in honor of signing his contract in December 2008, keeping him at Barça until 2014.  From the studio, Xavi receives phone calls from former coaches (notably Louis Van Gaal), friends (Javier Saviola among them) and family.  It’s probably about 85-90% in Catalan, and since it’s a radio broadcast it’s incredibly hard to follow if you don’t speak the language.  It’s well worth a shot, I think, but yes, especially in the phone conversations it can be really hard to follow.  Every time I listen to it I pick up on something new.

2. El Larguero - En directo en Barcelona

Download Part 1 Download Part 2

El Larguero is Cadena Ser’s sports program hosted by Ramón de la Morena.  This broadcast was done right after FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-6 at the Santiago Bernabéu, and is done live in Barcelona.  Special guest stars are Joan Manuel Serrat, legendary Catalan singer, Joaquim Hernández, Xavi Hernández’s father, José Antonio Iniesta, Andrés Iniesta’s father, and Bojan Krkić (father).  In this broadcast, Serrat talks about growing up culé and the different Barça teams he’s seen over the years.  The fathers also talk about what it was like to raise boys who grew up to be some of the best footballers in the world.  The broadcast is 100% in Spanish.  Definitely worth a listen as well, as it adds a personal touch to the players we all know and love, giving us an insight into their lives as children.  If you couldn’t understand the Xavi special, this is just as good.

Credit isn’t necessary (obviously), since all I did was download these right after they aired and upload them.  I’d just appreciate keeping my name on the reblog.  Thanks.
